I think a case can be made for this being notable, need to be better written and citations provided though. Stuff like the price listing is not appropriate on wikipedia. I'm not going to wholesale hack about with this, but will make a few tweaks to point it in the right direction.--ThePaintedOne (talk) 11:42, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, that was a bit more than a tweak, but I think this structure and style is much better. Lots of citations need to be added, but in doing so the copy can be expanded significantly.--ThePaintedOne (talk) 12:15, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

Yeah, I knew it needed a lot more editing. I will see to this.

Thanks, pbl1998--Pbl1998 (talk) 13:01, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The most important thing to find right now are some good citations. A number of these should be fairly easy, there is plenty of info on the Hoe Valley scheme and the leisure centre. Ideally put them in as inline cites, but it you aren't sure how put them on here with an indication of which part of the article they support and I'll add them in for you.

Ok, every section now has citations and is written in a generally suitable style. So passing editors are unlikely to want to delete the article. From here in the article can be expanded as more refs are found. In particular there is a large swathe of time between 1902 and 1976 where we don't know anything about how the park was layed out or what facillities it had. It would also be interesting to find out a bit more about the use of the land prior to it being gifted to the town, so the first line of the history can be expanded slightly. Everything needs citations though. Note, citations don't have to be web pages. PBL and Willrocks have both previously mentioned books on Woking in the library, these could well be a source for this historical information if you have access to any. If you find something, put up a copy of the relvent text here and I'll show you how to convert it into an inline citation.--ThePaintedOne (talk) 12:22, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I thinks it's looking great now. It will look even better once we've got Photos, more infomation and hopefully Woking Ponds merged to the page. Keep Working. Well Done.

Thanks a lot for the work, pbl1998--Pbl1998 (talk) 12:59, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

History[edit]

Also, some bits of history between 1902 and 2008 would be useful, e.g. when were the leisure centre and pool built, etc.--ThePaintedOne (talk) 13:04, 11 January 2011 (UTC)  Done --ThePaintedOne (talk) 15:03, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

So, what was there between 1902 and 1976? --ThePaintedOne (talk) 15:03, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Haha. I'll try to find out!!!

Thanks, pbl1998--Pbl1998 (talk) 21:25, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Woking Ponds[edit]

Note, I have proposed Woking Ponds for deletion, suggesting it be merged with this article.--ThePaintedOne (talk) 12:23, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This was initially put up as a prod, I've now put the correct merge tags on source and destination articles. However, the prods were up for 5 days with no oppostion (other than administrative removal as I was using the wrong process), so I think the merge tags only need to be there for a couple a days. The article creator was informed but so far hasn't made any comment and hardly anything links there, so I think it unlikely anyone is going to notice or care. I'll give it till Wednesday then do the redirect if no one has raised any objections.--ThePaintedOne (talk) 08:18, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No objections raised so I'm going to do the merge. I think the section on this page is already big enough for this topic, but if anyone wants to bring any more over I've kept a copy of the current page in userspace. Note that there aren't any refs in the original, so anything copied over will need to be researched.--ThePaintedOne (talk) 14:53, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

 Done--ThePaintedOne (talk) 15:04, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Images[edit]

Needs some images, I'd say one general picture showing as much of the area as possible, one each for the leisure centre and pool, and probably one of the refurbished pond as well. I've had a hunt through commons and the Fuel Cell picture was the only one I could find, this could have been used for the pool, but as its the back of the building that would be pretty naff, so I think it better to illustrate the fuel cell itself. I live just round the corner from the park and go there often with my kids (they having swiming lessons there and regularly go to the playstore, in fact one of them just had a party there), so if I have the chance I'll try and nab some pictures. might be a While though as I can only get there during daylight at the weekends, and the weather report looks pretty abysmal this week.--ThePaintedOne (talk) 12:42, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Citations[edit]

Please stop adding in random citations to the bottom of the reflist, that is not the correct way to do this. I've taken them out and copied here

13. http://www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/s/2075207_woking_park_attack_victim_will_never_be_the_same

I can't see what this could be used for. The attack itself is an item of news, so not suitable for inclusion, it just happens to have occured in the park. It doesn't say anything new about the park itself, so I can't see where it would be used in the article.--ThePaintedOne (talk) 13:43, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

14. http://www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/s/2040242_save_our_park_urges_campaign

This citation is already in the article (number 2 at the time of writting).--ThePaintedOne (talk) 13:44, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

15. http://www.exploringsurreyspast.org.uk/GetRecord/SHCOL_4363

Hmm, this is an excellent source, but I can't see how to use it in the article. It doesn't appear to directly reference the land transfer anywhere I can see (just by searching for the word 'Woking'. I suspect one of the sub documents listed would be of use, but that would take a lot of trawling to find. --ThePaintedOne (talk) 13:54, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

16. http://www.woking.gov.uk/leisure/sportandrecreation/sportsfacilities/games

This is pretty much a duplicate of the info in cite number 6 (at time of writting), and since it's from the same council website doesn't add anything to the page.--ThePaintedOne (talk) 13:55, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Citations need to be put in next to the facts they support, with a ref tag in front and a /ref tag afterward. If you look through the code of the article you will see many examples of this. What facts are these citations for?--ThePaintedOne (talk) 13:16, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Take a look here for instructions on how to do this. Talk:Export House#Citations--ThePaintedOne (talk) 13:39, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
