PROD[edit]

IgnatiusofLondon, Crouch, Swale. Removed PROD. This looks to be a redirect to Kintbury as with Clapton, Berkshire. There is reference to Winding Wood here [4] note 18 as 4 carucates, (land area). Currently, OS has it as a wood.[5] There's a signpost for Winding Wood, indicating it is a place, AFAICS 4 residences.[6]. Not in Domesday. The vineyard is nearby but separate. Suggest redirect or AfD. Rupples (talk) 20:12, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Rupples, thanks for checking in. My worry is that a simple wood is unlikely to meet WP:GEONATURAL and, absent legal recognition, WP:POPULATED also fails. The reason I cited the town and county councils was exactly that I couldn't find legal recognition of the settlement that extends beyond recognition of the road, which I worry is what we could also be seeing in that signpost. WP:POPULATED is probably the easiest criterion to meet here, as legal recognition suffices for an article, but it will almost certainly be a permastub that could probably be given better treatment as part of an article covering a larger area.
I'm conscious of editors' time, and I think a redirect to Kintbury is a good compromise, so I will be bold and enact a WP:BLAR. What I will say is that any editor recreating this page really has to bring sources to the table. This is not the first unreferenced article on a place of dubious notability in Berkshire I've come across through WP:FEB24. IgnatiusofLondon (talk) 20:30, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Makes sense, that's what I was going to do, it is an OS settlement but there isn't anything in the Domesday Book of A Vision of Britain through Time. Crouch, Swale (talk) 20:47, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
