Will Call is not just for tickets. Department stores used to have will call desks in the 60s and earlier 99.184.222.236 (talk) 03:37, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Mabel[reply]

Etymology[edit]

Does anyone know the etymology of "Will Call" ?

How did that term come about ?

I thought perhaps it was a reference to an old English standard "to come calling". As a suitor "will come calling" to the home of his desire. So too, someone "will come calling for their tickets" or "Will Call". Shakespeare, theatre and the English...I thought it made sense. Can anyone confirm? I agree, I was just thinking the same thing and I came here looking for the origin of this term. I think your attempt might be in the right direction. --Hergio 18:26, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I also came here looking for the origin of the term. My guess was the same as Ardisg13's. --Alynna 02:38, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A quick Google (for '"will call" origin "box office"') seems to confirm this guess... --Alynna 02:46, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
