Comments and suggestions for further improvement. This article includes a lot of detailed information and references. The author should be congratulated for this extensive work. In particular, the ranking and the associated map are useful to provide the reader a brief overview without having to delve into the technical details. If further work will be done on the article, I would suggest to add information about the extent of monitoring and enforcement of standards. The best standard is not worth much, if it is not being enforced. It would also be useful to know which entities are in charge of monitoring compliance, and what institutional capacity (staffing, money) they have to carry out their functions. Last but not least, the title suggests a broader scope of the article than the content actually delivers. Standards for industrial discharges into sewer systems are only one subset of wastewater discharge standards. To make the article complete, standards for the direct discharge of industrial wastewater into the environment and standards for municipal wastewater should also be added.--Mschiffler (talk) 19:32, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
