Washing dollys; very surprised to see these unmentioned.

Are washing dollys a purely English thing?

They're essentially a three-legged stool with a vertical bar going through the seat, and a horizontal bar through that to act as a handle.

I would assume basically everyone in England/UK is completely familiar with these, as they're often shown on school trips to Victorian related places.

Could we include something on this early method of washing clothes?

  • This article doesn't cover washboards either. I'm against having both here - except perhaps very briefly, in one early section. The point is that neither are machines. Both still require human power and human attendance. Andy Dingley (talk) 09:24, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
