"NEW SCHOOLS BUILDING PROGRAMME PROPOSALS The Chairman (Mr F G Kerswell CC) commented that he considered the position was very satisfactory having regard to the difficulties when reports were received by the South Eastern Divisional Education Executive at Purley on Friday relative to school accommodation and the building programme for the area which comprises the Caterham and Warlingham and Coulsdon and Purley urban districts The Executive had been asked by the Education Committee to submit proposals for inclusion in the 1953-54 building programme and having considered information about the estimated rolls in primary schools 1956 and in secondary schools in 1958 they proposed that the Education Committee include in the programme the provision of four classrooms at Hamsey Green Primary School 1953-54 the completion of Warlingham Secondary School by the provision of accommodation for four-form entry new secondary schools at Rlddlesdown Smitham and Caterham Hill and a new infants’ junior school for an unknown site at Purley reported two additional classrooms Hamsey Green Primary School were expected to be completed by the end of this month and that two at Sanderstead Primary School were expected to be ready for use in October. It was agreed that children were due to be admitted to Hamsey Green and Sanderstead Schools at the beginning of this autumn term should wait until the completion of the new classrooms and that the Divisional Education Officer (Mr G F Maw) consult with the Chairman with regard to alternative arrangements for these children if it appeared there would be a long delay in the completion of the classrooms." Date of transition to comprehensive[edit]

The Comprehensive transition is currently missing from the page. I have established from news reports that it was definitely comprehensive by 1977. Dooes anyone know what date it transitioned? Was the sixth form block built at that time? Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 10:15, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like you have added the date and source. Thanks for digging this up. Tacyarg (talk) 20:57, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, yes. I presume the sixth form was built at this time, but still not found anything about that. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 21:07, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
