Editing[edit]

There are some inaccuracies in the wikipedia page. Tvstationfan101 (talk) 06:03, 17 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

1. It's "low-powered, Class A", not "class A low–power".
2. Don't use the station's current callsign when you're talking about an event in which the station used a former callsign.
3. Always bolden the text when the station changed its callsign to.
4. It's "The station's digital signal is multiplexed", not "The station's digital channel is multiplexed".

Page protection[edit]

@BlueboyLINY and Tvstationfan101: I have locked this page to stop the slow-motion edit war you two have been carrying on for months. I see there was one attempt to use the talk page, more than a month ago, but no response from the other party and no evidence offered for the assertions made. The two of you need to talk out your disagreements and either reach agreement or prove your point with references, preferably both. When you have agreed to stop edit warring, let me know and I will unlock the page. Otherwise it stays locked. -- MelanieN (talk) 22:02, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@BlueboyLINY and Tvstationfan101: Oops, messed up the pings.
@BlueboyLINY, Tvstationfan101, and MelanieN: Diving in here as a neutral editor to try and resolve the dispute here and after the edit request made below. Working from the differences in this diff:
  • There should not be a filled out city field in this infobox.
  • Given the relative obscurity of the network, I think it's appropriate to spell the abbreviation "FNX" out in the infobox.
  • I prefer "Class A low-power". The FCC even used this formulation early on: e.g. "Statement of Eligibility for Class A Low Power Television Station Status".
  • The reference to 9/11 footage should use the then-current WLBX call sign.
  • Call signs should not be bolded in running text. This is something this project has loved too much and which I've sought to move away from, especially when there are lots of call signs. Having a list in the infobox obviates this need.
  • I do agree that digital signal, rather than channel, is better. In fact, we can drop the word "digital" altogether (it's not 2009): The station's signal is multiplexed:. However, this is not the place for that formulation. The section should start, WMBQ-CD transmits one channel on the multiplex shared with WNET and WNDT-CD. We need to figure out a way to highlight the WMBQ-CD line on this box, too, which would be really helpful for channel sharing so people can see the whole mux and what's associated with this license.
If deciding on these changes can remove the full protection on this page, I can also go in and make a few other improvements that this page needs to the text. I can't do this as long as the page is full protected. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 04:32, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for doing this, Sammi. I hate to see an article locked for so long just because two warring parties won't discuss the matter. I will try to get them to understand what they need to do. -- MelanieN (talk) 16:16, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
