No road connection, really?[edit]

The article states that there was no road connection to Vulcan, yet present-day maps show a road that follows the railroad in both directions with a connection across the river as close as 1.9 miles to the northwest.

Was this road not in existence when the suspension bridge collapsed? Was this road owned by the railroad with no easement for the public to access Vulcan?
