Looks excellent! I'd just like to see some more wikification, but the graphical organisation is well-thought-out, and the layout looks superb. jglc | t | c 18:01, 19 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Good article. However, ground-pounding Voldos, with their provocative libations, pose a threat to us all.

Um... Deaf?[edit]

It's great that you guys want to expand on articles related to deafness and deaf culture and all that, but... Voldo ain't deaf. He's blind, last I checked. Albino Bebop 00:53, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Correct. Trust us people, if he were blind AND deaf then he would have no reasonable way of fighting in this game.ThegreatWakkorati (talk) 10:33, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, Cyberboz.[edit]

I hate to do this to you, redirect your page and all, but I thought it would be best if the page title was more specific such that if another meaning to Voldo comes along at any point in time, this page can serve as a disambiguation to the term or something like that. That being said, I think the page is looking great, and my ideas were strangely very similar to yours, especially with the big box on the right side with the general biographical information. I hope you don't mind too much about the future redirections, but I thought it'd be good to tell you this now before you've finished too many to turn back. Great pages, though. --Shackleton (19 July 2005)

Hi Shackleton !

Just thanks for the change I still a newbie in Wikipedia and the redirection is ok ! I've done the same with Heishiro Mitsurugi (Soul Calibur). I really like to work with you ! --Cyberboz (19 July 2005)

Move[edit]

This page was moved to Voldo from Voldo (Soul Calibur) after a request was posted at WP:RM as the former is presently unambiguous. The move request was originally made at Talk:Voldo (Soul Calibur) which I have now redirected to here. Dragons flight 19:45, August 23, 2005 (UTC)

Character Analysis[edit]

Umm, great article about a great character and all, but there should be a character analysis. --Brobbo 19:08, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Huh?[edit]

It was said in the Trivia section that Voldo "possesed a homosexual tendacies". Any proof for this claim?

They were probably basing that assumption off his blind devotion to his master and the fact that most of his costumes look like they'd be right at home in a BDSM shop. Drago 07:46, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
"BDSM"?ThegreatWakkorati (talk) 17:46, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It means bondage--Legend Chronicles (talk) 18:21, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Voldo's costumes[edit]

Shouldn't a note be made on Voldo's costumes past 'He is the only character besides Ivy with a thong.'? His costumes are all slightly disturbing - In fact one of his SCII alternate costumes appears to be based off of the xenomorph from the Alien series. That could probably at the least make an interesting Trivia addition. Drago 07:46, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry about that.
Just because he is a male and not a female and doesn't have ample and equally exposed bosoms to back up his bare buttocks is no reason to go all nuts over the fact that he's wearing a "thong-like" harness. Not that I'm saying that was what you were doing, I'm just saying...GROW UP AMERICA! None of you seemed to put up much of an arguement for Ivy's costumes. That is, until they tried to cover her in a bodysuit...
NOT that I'm implying that is what you were thinking and/or saying.ThegreatWakkorati (talk) 23:08, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow.[edit]

"The Blind stance can even be sometimes more useful than the normal stance and because of this, successfully blocking any move while in Blind stance will instantly turn Voldo back around to normal stance meaning that a player must take the opponent's attack in order to maintain the stance given that Voldo does not fall down but simply pressing B+K could return Voldo back into Blind stance although this may only take a split-second, it may leave Voldo open to backthrows if there's not much distance between the players."

If some start to make coments about Voldo's wearing, there are start to go more and more, and some of them are irrelevant and bashing. It is obvious that Voldo dress weird, but the reasons for doing so are unknown.

MTV[edit]

I briefly saw this MTV awards thing where some dude dressed up as Voldo, came in doing a Mantis crawl, and handed an announcer some card with his foot? I even commented on it at the time. Anybody else see this? Dessydes 18:33, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cheat[edit]

My friend once told me about a cheat he got for Voldo in Sould Calibur 3. He said that he hacked into his game and was able to see Voldo without his suit on. And also he said he saw Voldos true from, a demon. He says Voldo is a demon in a human body and he used to be lord of the universe. He saws the demon form is really creepy. I looked on the internet and found no info and it didnt seem like he was lying, because he was able to tell what Voldo looked like really describtley. Anyone has info or a picture on this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Heroman2 (talkcontribs) 22:51, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Seems like your friend is lying. Even with hacks, it would not have been developed into the game. The stories ingame are about as true as you can get, as well. Your friend is a good lyer. 59.188.121.2 (talk) 14:11, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gay mummy[edit]

A gay mummy? Voldo is not a mummy and where is there any proof of Voldo's sexual oriantation? Should I remove this? I think it's vandalism. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.244.30.29 (talk) 03:31, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It was vandalism; it's been removed. EnviroboyTalkCs 03:34, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Er...where did you get the "gay mummy" thing from?ThegreatWakkorati (talk) 10:32, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He totally is gay —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.172.170.26 (talk) 11:37, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Name theory[edit]

I have this hunch that the character's name was supposed to be Bordeaux, and the Japanese phonetics ended up translating it wrong. "Bor" => ボ ル, "deaux" => ド. However, this is pure speculation so... Mylakovich (talk) 17:18, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gameplay[edit]

Okay, this is pretty much just like the old character analysis section from before. I'm removing these for the same reason people from before deleted the character analysis section. If you want to find out why, check out Taki's and Kilik's talk pages. If people want a strategy guide, they should go to fansites. Mythmonster2 (talk) 06:32, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Extension of Background Story[edit]

This page's explanation of Voldo's Back story only entails the events of the first to the fourth games. It needs an update up to soul calibur 4 in which it is explained that after leaving Vercci's tomb in searche of his masters eternally coveted treasure soul edge Voldo finds himself at the castle of Ostreisenburg. There he sees the soul edge in the ownership of Nightmare the Azure Knight. He steals the blade thinking that he is fulfilling his masters last wish however unknowing he is under the spell of the blade which is hypnotizing him into changing his purpose of protecting his master to protecting the blade. Beleiing wholeheartedly that he is completing his beloed masters legacy he swears his allegiance to the cause of preserving in the blades well being in his masters name. 70.185.122.214 (talk) 19:41, 11 August 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Conception and History[edit]

I would change this myself but the page has been locked, it reads "As a character introduced in Soulcalibur..." Voldo was introduced in the previous game Soul Edge/Blade as one of the original fighters —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.195.200.210 (talk) 11:11, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

BSDM[edit]

Article is incomplete without mention of his attire and its BSDM characteristics. Jason Quinn (talk) 06:53, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dutch Translation[edit]

I altered the translation of the title of the Power Unlimited article mentioned in the last paragraph. It's not causing spontanious suicide, but suicidal tendencies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.169.205.60 (talk) 13:18, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

GA review (see here for what the criteria are, and here for what they are not)

  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a. (prose, spelling, and grammar):
    b. (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
    a. (reference section):
    b. (citations to reliable sources):
    c. (OR):
    d. (copyvio and plagiarism):
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a. (major aspects):
    b. (focused):
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images and other media, where possible and appropriate.
    a. (images are tagged and non-free content have non-free use rationales):
    b. (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/fail:

(Criteria marked are unassessed)

  1. Lead should have a little bit of discussion about his creation. Ie, who created him and the process of his creation.
    1. Should be fixed
  2. Aya Takemura is not mentioned outside of the infobox
    1. Fixed
  3. "his character was rendered as a 3D model by a design team that worked solely on him." This line might imply to the reader that Voldo was unique in this respect
    1. Added a bit to the beginning of the sentence to fix this.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 02:23, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  4. Found a dead link: [1]
    1. Fixed.
  5. I feel like the Promotion aspect of Promotion and reception should stand on its own.
    1. I'm wary about a single paragraph promotion section, and there's nothing more to flesh that paragraph out further.
  6. In the Reception section, it feels like a lot of the examples are [Source] described Voldo as "quote". I think that the section could be tightened up and improved. Ie, the Game Chronicle source, in context, calls him one of his favorites, citing his creepiness. So you could rewrite it as "Game Chronicles writer Mark Smith regards Voldo as his favorite in Soulcalibur IV due to how creepy he is." This would feel more natural, I think. Consider maybe combining some commentary if it's very similar, or using different words (ie how one example uses 'described' while another one says 'noted')
    1. Should be fixed
  7. An additional note is that, when quoting someone directly, you should either paraphrase the quote or ascribe the quote to the author rather than just the website (if possible, I know some sources just say "staff").
    1. Should be fixed now
  8. I noticed some sources have formatting issues, such as ones without the cite web tag. Additionally, it'd be useful to make sure that the sources are formatted similarly, and IMO, you shouldn't need to list staff as the author, as that's implied.
    1. Fixed

  1. https://8wayrun.com/threads/the-complete-outcast-odyssey-gallery-now-in-our-wiki.19336/ - this seems unreliable
    1. Replaced with game website link.

    1. Yes, both are university professors and both were considered reliable in Dance, Voldo, Dance
