Needs for basic coverage[edit]

Her obituary in The New York Times has not yet been cited. I added it as one External link.
Hamilton won two major lifetime awards, the biennial international IBBY Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1992 and the triennial ALA Laura Ingalls Wilder Award in 1995. It should be possible to find some contemporary coverage (NYT?), perhaps official citations of her achievements (IBBY and ALA?).
In her honor, ALA established a minor lifetime achievement award in 2010, for which I inserted a long quotation from the current official award webpage. It will be good to reduce that quotation and find contemporary ALA press release or daily newspaper (NYT?) coverage of new award.

Here's a source that will help go far beyond basic coverage in some respects:

Date of birth[edit]

Previously we said 1934 and 1936 inconsistently. I changed 1936 to 1934 considering the sources cited at Ext link LCCN, which differ.[1] --P64 (talk) 21:57, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

For the 1934 birthyear, LC cites her official website biography and a collection of speeches,essays,conversations. For 1936 it cites older sources 1995 Something About the Author, 1997 CIP, 2002 NYT obituary. The German national library Ext link GND also uses 1936 and DE.wiki de:Virginia Hamilton follows that (which prompts me to return now).
