Needs expansion[edit]

This article is a daughter of Virginia Conventions initiated by Dallyripple. Editors are invited to expand it with additional research to develop better historical context prior to the Convention itself, and to elaborate the main features of the Constitution that are not addressed in the summaries at Virginia Constitution. Thanks in advance. TheVirginiaHistorian (talk) 06:38, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Chart linkage[edit]

I have linked one hundred and thirty five names of delegates in the Chart of Delegates to the Virginia Constitutional Convention of 1850. To my delight, many of the blue links are to Virginia politicians of the nineteenth century, especially those who also served in Congress at some point in their careers. To my dismay, there are several links to bios of modern personalities. The bot has not yet notified my Talk page of names requiring disambiguation. I feel challenged to create stub bios for the omitted Virginian politicians of the nineteenth century linked in red.

My intent is to either contribute to or to establish biographical stubs for the Virginians for perhaps one hundred names with thumb nail sketches in Pulliam’s account of the Conventions of 1850, as well as using his treatment of the members of the Conventions of 1776, 1788, 1830 and 1868, then Brenaman for the 1902 Convention.

I regret that I have yet to learn how to create articles, disambiguation pages, etc. Any links to "how to" pages for biographies would be appreciated as I stumble through this project. Thanks in advance. TheVirginiaHistorian (talk) 09:22, 14 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Un-links in the Chart of Delegates[edit]

In the Chart of Delegates, I have sought to link the names to the Virginia personages at the Convention, including those with previous biographical articles, especially Members of Congress with either prior or subsequent careers there, striving to align the character's middle initials, middle names and middle name omissions with prior articles. Generally I looked for an alignment of birth date, death date and place of birth or burial, as well as confirmation of state and national offices held as reported in my Virginia sources at Pulliam, Brenaman and the Encyclopedia Virginia online.

If there were no existing articles, I am seeking to create new bios for those most notable as both members of Constitutional Conventions and members of the General Assembly as Delegates or state Senators. Those who served in one Constitutional Convention as their only elective office, or who otherwise served in County offices alone, and those who are not noted beyond a simple listing in Pulliam’s “The Constitutional Conventions of Virginia from the Foundation of the Commonwealth to the present time (1901)”, have not yet been addressed.

Those names that have not met those criteria have been unlinked. But as always, editors are invited to collaborate here to expand the encyclopedia. TheVirginiaHistorian (talk) 15:16, 6 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
