Adding a list of Vincent Longo's clients[edit]

I want to add this line, which was in an earlier draft but was removed by an editor, on the grounds of "fame by association." Please note that the bio for living make-up artist (Beyonce his most famous client) Sir John includes a similar list of famous faces that he has made up. The point is that for a make-up artist, his clients are his "credits" and these are some of the most famous women in the world (and Vincent has worked with many of them repeatedly) that these names support his claim to notability (which has already been accepted along with the article). "During his career, he has created cover, editorial, runway and red-carpet “beauty looks” for such icons as Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Heidi Klum, Claudia Schiffer, Elle MacPherson, Julia Roberts, Sigourney Weaver, Hilary Clinton, Ivana Trump, Gwyneth Paltrow, Diane Lane, Claire Danes, Geri Halliwell, Isabella Rossellini and Catherine Deneuve."

Philanthropy/Charity[edit]

In an earlier draft, I included a paragraph about a party in Cannes at the Villa Bagatelle in 2002, co-hosted by Vincent Longo and Trudy Styler. It was covered in Hello, OK, InStyle, etc. etc, and was considered to be one of the celebrity events of that year (or decade) in the world where such things matter. It was intended as a fundraiser and indeed it achieved that goal, along with global publicity for the organizations benefitted. I wish to return this paragraph (with citations to relevant publications) to the biography of Vincent along with documentation of other highly publicized charitable/philanthropic endeavors of Vincent Longo (and his cosmetics brand). Sponsoring the Bridgehampton Polo Classic (2006), supporting the Bailey House (Aids Hospice provider, NYC) charitable auction and winning a weekend Times Square looping video for the weekend; Support for and participation in Operation Smile fundraising and promotional efforts; A Vincent Longo Cosmetics sponsorship of an AmFAR fundraiser at the Venice Film Festival featuring Lauren Bush as the model in 2002. As justification for what some editors have called "puffery" or irrelevant materials, I argue that biographical subject Vincent Longo is not only a talented make-up artist and founder of a high profile cosmetics brand, but a celebrity himself whose friendships and social activities draw attention and augment his own brand/identity. My claim is the unobjectionable one that entertainment, fashion & celebrity are key developments (and economic/cultural juggernauts) in the 20th and 21st centuries and Vincent is situated at their intersection. (See, for example, The Lear Center at Annenburg, USC, which is a venerable and well-recognized think tank/ institute dedicated to the study of entertainment as a rival force to politics, culture, economics. For better or worse, entertainment has changed the world over the past 120 years.) Flgreene13 (talk) 17:44, 4 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
