Joan of Arc[edit]

The common belief among movie fans that the 1948 version of Joan of Arc was "disastrous" needs correction. The picture earned rentals of $4.1 million domestically (on a budget of $4.5 million) in 1948, making it the sixth highest that year. It was nominated for seven Academy Awards, including Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor; and won two Oscars, for its cinematography and costumes, and the Academy gave an Honoray Award to producer Walter Wanger for "distinguished service to the industry in adding to its moral stature in the world community by his production of the picture Joan of Arc". While Joan of Arc was not the success that its makers had hope for, it was not a complete failure, either. — Walloon 17:43, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Place of birth[edit]

Main article says he was born in Pasadena; the "infobox" says La Cañada. Jim 14:16, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IMDB says La Cañada, so I'll switch it to that. Hotwine8 01:43, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IMDB and Wikipedia are the only two sources I can find that say La Cañada. International Dictionary of Films and Filmmakers, Volume 2: Directors, TCM, and Encyclopædia Britannica all say Pasadena. I've changed it back. Aabbott (talk) 21:39, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion of article?[edit]

Compared to other directors from the "Golden Age" of Hollywood, this is a very skimpy biography page. There are B-movie starlets whose lives receive more examination that this successful director.

Anyone knowledgeable enough to expand his career section and that of his personal life? 69.125.134.86 (talk) 13:19, 21 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

AFI list[edit]

Fleming holds the achievement of being the one of two film directors to have two films listed in the top 10 of the American Film Institute's prestigious 2007 AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies list. - what does this mean? 1. "being the one of two" is confusing and 2. I looked at the list - Fleming is the only director to have two films in the top ten DavidRBarker (talk) 22:59, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
