Assignments[edit]

Lineagegeek you may be interested in this edit I have made at Second Air Force, because the AFHRA fact sheet did not list an assignment of 2 IC -etc-> V FC etc to Second Air Force. Do you have a list of assignments covering the Command before it was assigned to Fifth Air Force? Buckshot06 (talk) 09:09, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No. I might Mention that Maurer seems to agree. Combat Units does not list an assignment for the 2d Interceptor Command on activation, only when it deployed to the Pacific as part of Fifth Air Force. However, the abstract of the 2 AF history for 1 Jan-6 Dec 1941 states " . . . ACTIVATION AND ORGANIZATION OF THE FOUR COMMAND ELEMENTS OF THE 2 AF INCLUDED BOMBER, INTERCEPTOR, AIR SUPPORT, AND AIR FORCE BASE COMMAND; AN ADDITIONAL INTERCEPTOR COMMAND WAS FORMED LATE IN 1941 . . ." First I heard of a second interceptor command (or fighter command) in 2 AF.
