Status of governance and territorial limits

Following on this December 19 Philippine Inquirer story, I saw this item in today's Philippine Inquirer, wherein the governor of Tawi-Tawi asserts,

Turtle Islands, also known as Taganak, is a municipality of the province of Tawi-Tawi. It is composed of seven (not six) islands, namely: Taganak, Great Bakungan, Boan, Lihiman, Langawan and Small Bakungan. Of the last named island, only about one-third is within Philippine territory; the other two-thirds is under Malaysian jurisdiction.

The Boundaries Treaty of 1930 clarifies those islands in the region belonging to U.S. and those to the State of North Borneo and delimits the boundary between the Philippine Archipelago (under U.S. sovereignty) and the State of North Borneo (under British protection). [...] When the Boundaries Treaty of 1930 was finalized, an exchange of notes supplemented the Treaty. Pursuant to the notes, sovereignty over these islands was transferred to the U.S., and it was agreed that Great Britain should continue to administer these islands until the U.S. gave notice to the contrary.

The List of sovereign states by formation date article asserts without support that territorial changes occurred in 1948 and/or 1956—presumably as a result of U.S. notifications to the U.K. Can anyone clarify this further? User:Wtmitchell - I recently revised the history section and added in the details around when Philippines took over the administration of the Turtle and Mangsee Islands. There was no change in the territories over which the Philippines enjoyed sovereignty. There was a change an increase in the territories over which Philippines was responsible for administration.
