Clarify[edit]

The article says "...environmental feat in Ireland." This needs to be clarified. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 22:28, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tag says the article is "unclear". What is unclear? Sarah777 (talk) 01:13, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Capacity and Efficiency[edit]

Is the any information available on Turlough Hill's capacity and efficiency? -- Damobbb (talk) 14:33, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinates[edit]

Just a note regarding the coordinates in the two infoboxes, which are different. The mountain infobox uses the location of the summit to the south-west of the upper reservoir. The power station infobox uses the location of the upper reservoir. This reflects the fact the the summit and the power station are not in the exact same location - Joe King (talk) 18:31, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Important Note[edit]

The overall tone of this article is incorrect and misleading and requires rework. The name Turlough Hill refers to the Hydro Scheme only. It is important to note that it does not refer to the mountain on which the higher, artificial, lake is situated. ESB would neither have had the authority nor the inclination to either name or rename the mountain nor the natural lake that form the Turlough Hill Hydro Scheme. Price wrote in 1945 <<Is cosúil gurb e Toomenan seanainm na háite>> which shows that perhaps he wasn't sure, while Anthony Hanrahan wrote on the same note in 1970 that a local he spoke with referred to the mountain as Burryglass or Burrygloss. It is more likely that Tomaneena refers to a location beside the original shore of Lough Nahanagan? Given it's proximity to the Wicklow Gap and it's location to St. Kevin's road it may have been a suitable spot for a summer fair? ESBPGEN (talk) 12:13, 15 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

After many years of intending to correct the name mistake in this article I have finally done so. I cannot stress enough that the mountain that is part of the pumped hydro scheme was NEVER renamed. This can be confirmed by both ESB and OSI (Ordinance Survey of Ireland). — Preceding unsigned comment added by ESBPGEN (talkcontribs) 07:15, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

IMPORTANT NOTICE (particularly for the user called The Banner[edit]

Please stop resetting this article to it's previous state.

THERE IS NO MOUNTAIN IN COUNTY WICKLOW CALLED TURLOUGH HILL!!

This article has been mistakenly confusing the situation around the name Turlough Hill and the mountain on which it was built. Turlough Hill is the name of the engineering works i.e the Power Station and is NOT the name of the mountain. In Ireland there is no legal provision to change the name of a geological feature. ESB, as a State Owned Utility could not, did not, would not and will not request that Ordinance Survey of Ireland change the name of the mountain. Moreover OSI do not have that authority even if so requested — Preceding unsigned comment added by ESBPGEN (talkcontribs) 11:36, 16 July 2018 (UTC) [reply]

Important note to ESBPGEN: you have to declare a possible Conflict of Interest on your user page per Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Seeing your name that conflict of interest is clearly there. The Banner talk 12:37, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
And please: read the article a bit. This is an article about the hill. The powerstation has its own article: Turlough Hill Power Station. The Banner talk 12:39, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
