(no title)[edit]

Tuen Mun probably isn't regarded as a New Town any more, as it's been around for more than 30 years - should this article be merged with the "Tuen Mun" article? Alternatively, I propose that all HK place name/district articles be named such that district articles are suffixed with (district). That is, Tuen Mun would become "Tuen Mun", which refers to the town, and "Tuen Mun (district)", which refers to the district... --СђrΐsτσρhΞr ScЋδlτξη 20:35, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Need rewrite[edit]

Ok, now there is Tuen Mun, Tuen Mun New Town and Tuen Mun District for "Tuen Mun". Yes, the three places are not the same , but at the same time they have a degree of overlap. I would suggest "Tuen Mun New Town" as a division of labour as wiki articles, only about the development history of the built-up area as a new (satellite) town, and put the rest of the content to Tuen Mun. Also, there is no such "New Town" level of government. The infobox parameter should for Tuen Mun District only. Matthew hk (talk) 19:58, 8 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Area size[edit]

Ok the press release of the town's OZP said 2,260 hectares in size. And then Civil Engineering and Development Department said 3,266 hectares.[1] Did it refer to the same boundaries or in CEDD's sense the town project (historically) covers more area? And old press release also used the wording: The Planning Scheme Area, covering about 2,253 hectares.[2] Or are there some area are within the OZP but unplanned? Matthew hk (talk) 01:08, 9 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Some offtopic. According to census, the whole district had 487,546 people in 2011 (or by 2018 estimate, 502,700 (rounded up to the nearest hundreds)[3]). The new town despite covers most of the built-up area of the district, seem not possible to have equal number of population. Thus, the same CEDD website claims The new town's population is about 502 000 at present., cannot be verify or confirming for the time the statement was true. Population work locally[edit]

I only cited the interpretation by the newspaper Ta Kung Pao , but seem according to the primary source[1] (calling data from the government website directly) the ratio is 22.2% for Tuen Mun District. Feel free to dig out figure (or secondary source that interpret the original data) for "Tuen Mun New Town" exactly or just a secondary source for the whole district.
