Protected page[edit]

I'm protecting the page for three months because I've been alerted that various IPs have been trying to edit the page to remove any negative coverage about the film, to the point where there has been an edit war. For those coming in, please understand that Wikipedia pages have to be all encompassing and we should not edit a page to only discuss positive reviews for the film. If any of the people coming in are related to the film production in any way, please read over our conflict of interest policy to see why this sort of editing is highly discouraged and can even be seen as disruptive. However regardless of that, please understand that films will receive negative coverage. It's highly unlikely that any film will get universally positive feedback and when you have a film of this nature, it's very, very common for them to receive negative coverage. The worst thing you can do at this point is try to remove it, because not only does it not remove the content from the Internet but this actually gains a fair bit of attention from the general public. It does not help the film, its crew, or anyone involved look better- if anything, this actually runs the risk of making it look like the film crew are trying to turn the Wikipedia page into a promotional entry for the film. This has backfired several times on Wikipedia and in some instances, the film crew had absolutely nothing to do with the editing in question and ended up looking bad as a result. Please do not remove the negative coverage. If you can find proof that the coverage for the film has improved (IE, ratings on Rotten Tomatoes or Metacritic) then that can be added into the overall article. But removing the negative coverage as a whole? No, that's not how this works and in most instances it's actually fairly easily seen through. Just let it be and try to improve it in better ways, like the review aggregates suggestions, or just let the film's awards speak for themselves. Most people who watch films of this nature know that the reviews will be polarized or even outright negative, so many pay it no mind and watch it themselves. Regardless, I can't begin to tell you how bad trying to doctor the ratings section can backfire on people- I've seen people in the book industry try to do this with various sites and have their reputations ruined as a result and again- in some instances it was the fans who tried to do this and ended up giving their favorite author a horrible reputation that wasn't warranted.
