Resigned or expelled?[edit]

The September 10 1992 Toronto Star article says Rizzo was expelled by Rae. It's inaccurate to provide the article as a source and claim he resigned and was not expelled, as the user:EncyclopediaUpdaticus did.

Also, the September 10 1992 article specifically says that his construction firm avoided paying union benefits in 1989. These specifics should not be deleted in favour of the broad, general statement the he violated the tenets of the OLRB. In fact, the article says Ontario labour laws were violated, not OLRB tenets.

So why cite the article if is not going to be accurately represented?

Someone ought to dig up an article from October 1990 that actually speaks directly to the incident, instead of mentioning the return of Rizzo to the NDP caucus at the end of the article which focuses on another matter entirely.

From the newspaper accounts in 1990, it was clear that Rizzo quit on his own rather than being expelled. It was also clear that there was pressure for him to quit or be expelled. Later articles are less clear about this however the point is moot because he was no longer an NDP member. I wanted to clear the air about this but as I investigated Rizzo further I found him to be a real character. I decided to expand the article to include everything else about him. I hope the article is an accurate and neutral description of Rizzo's personal and political history. I enjoyed expanding this article.
