Bio

Why was the biography part cut out of this article? All that remains are trivia and discography. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.60.90.168 (talk) 04:34, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:TinaAimer1.jpg

Image:TinaAimer1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot 02:33, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Vernacular, and U.S. chart claim

The phrase "pole position" (not "poll position") means #1. I changed the sentence but if she did indeed remain at #1 for "well over a year," please change it back (with the appropriate spelling). I also changed the wording of the sentence about Mick Jones' production bringing her success on the U.S. charts, because this is not borne out by the chart figures shown here for that album. If she did indeed chart in the U.S. for this album, by all means revert that sentence and add the U.S. chartings to that album's infobox. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Abrazame (talkcontribs) 06:52, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

French language

Sorry, I'd just like to make it clear that Tina does not in fact speak French fluently. She's at best competent, but far from fluent. If you download her interviews at http://www.tinaarenaonline-france.com/ (in particular the one titled 'L'invité') you will understand. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.28.141.216 (talk) 12:37, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

I am not fluent so I cannot gage how fluent she is. How is she not fluent? Is it her grammar mistakes or does she struggle to say what she wants to say? 68.62.95.95 04:00, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
She frequently makes grammatical errors (in gender, conjugation, and vous/tu distinction) and has often lapsed into English during television appearances. She is, however, improving. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.28.73.4 (talk) 18:51, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Don't Ask sales

In this interview, it says Don't Ask sold 2 million, a bit more than the 1.3 in the bio. I know it's copied off her website tho. Thought it was interesting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ml4eYEIL9zk&feature=related —Preceding unsigned comment added by Puckeylut (talkcontribs) 12:41, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

New English language studio album 2008

I've removed 7 Lives and Songs of Love & Loss: Volume II from the article because neither have any references and therefore are not notable. They should only be added when an official announcement is made with legitimate references. Thanks, Phildev (talk) 01:26, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Un autre univers

Could someone say where they got the 3xPlatinum figures for Un autre univers? The SNEP website only lists it at Platinum. But they only list certifications at the end of the year, so the only way it would be possible is if it was just certified this year. But as of 2007, the SNEP website states its highest sales at Platinum. I did add that Je m'appelle Bagdad was certified Silver. http://www.disqueenfrance.com Puckeylut (talk) 18:46, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

  • Removed the 3xPlatinum figure from Un autre univers. The album sold an estimated 275.300 copies in France. Note that Just Me sold 125,000 and In Deep 850,000. Puckeylut (talk) 02:19, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

comparison of Don't ask vs in deep which is better. I only say in deep because it has the song I want to spend my lifetime loving you.

Huh? I'm not interested in what's better but how popular they were career-wise. I love all her albums! Puckeylut (talk) 01:10, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Vocal profile

Could someone help me with a 'vocal profile" for Tina? She also has an incredible range! Mseames — Preceding undated comment added 22:48, 18 June 2005 (UTC)

I agree! Tina has an awesome vocal range! Try listening to most of her "In Deep" songs and you'll know.
I wonder how many octaves can her voice reach. That would be cool to know.
Tina has a high vocal range I must say!
Impressive! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lam1 (talkcontribs) 13:11, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
My educated guess about her range is at least 3 octaves. I'd class her as a spinto soprano or a dramatic soprano. 68.62.95.95 04:00, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
I wouldn`t classify her as spinto - sound would be more like C. aguilera or Monica Naranjo than - both totally spinto sopranos - "metal - timbre". I would think "big lyric" (in between lyric and dramatic because of her lyric timbre and her big, powerful voice) and in between mezzosoprano and soprano - cause she can sing really deep also. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.218.242.104 (talk) 20:19, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Tina being the highest selling artist from AUS

  • Tina was awarded both by ARIA and the World Music Awards for being "Australia's Highest Selling Female Artist EVER". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Feelinsoryan (talkcontribs) 02:01, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
^No it is not EVER, it is the year in which she was awarded it — Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.23.130.14 (talk) 04:30, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Is it possible for anyone to list position of Tina's songs in music chart (ARIA and around the world)? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.122.126.131 (talk) 11:08, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

One of 5 Non-French Artists to Sell a Million Copies in France False

I've seen this quoted for years and always wondered the validity of this claim. Tina has had strong sales in France. She has come close to a million selling record with "Aller plus haut" and "In Deep." However, she's one of MANY artists to claim this feat.

Other artists include ABBA (Gold), Ace of Base (Happy Nation), Mariah Carey (Music Box), Tracy Chapman's debut, Phil Collins (But Seriously, Serious Hits...Live), Cranberries (No Need to Argue), Celine Dion (Falling Into You, Let's Talk About Love), Dire Straits (Brothers in Arms, Money For Nothing, On Every Street), Dido (No Angel), Eagles (Hotel California), Fugees (the Score), Michael Jackson (Bad, Dangerous, HIStory, Thriller), Norah Jones (Come Away With Me), Madonna (the Immaculate Collection, True Blue), Moby (Play), Nirvana (Never Mind), Pink Floyd (The Wall, Wish You Were Here), Queen (Greatest Hits Vol 2), Simon & Garfunkle (Greatest Hits, The Concert in Central Park, The Definitive), Spice Girls (Spice).

This info is easily verifiable. So you see, she is not one of just 5 artists to sell a million copies in France. She's one of many respectable artists to achieve this.

Missing Television appearances

Tina appeared on the 1999 ALMA Awards (An American awards show) to accept an award with Marc Anthony for their duet "I Want to Spend My Lifetime Loving You". She also appeared on "Entertainment Tonight" in May of 1996 when promoting "Chains" and "Show Me Heaven" in the USA. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.34.9.236 (talk) 03:46, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

Television section

I think all promotional appearances/awards/performances should be removed. I don't think it adds any value. Thoughts? Melonkelon (talk) 00:21, 23 October 2013 (UTC)

Tina Arena's quoted wealth - is it accurate?

On 26 December 2013, an editor quoted The Richest website (http://www.therichest.com) as a source for a statement in the lead section, that "Tina Arena has an estimated net worth of $245 million". A recent Australian Rich List of entertainers, including singers (BRW Rich 50) doesn't list her at all, although that may be because she lives in France these days. She does not appear on the BRW Australian Rich 200 (BRW Rich 200). Both those lists are very well regarded and regularly quoted by all mainstream Australian media outlets.I cannot be definitive, but I do not recall seeing her name on other Australian rich lists either (I am Australian) and an amount of $245 million would qualify her to top such lists.

I believe she has sold around eight million records (The Artist’s Story:Tina Arena) and is a busy live performer but the amount (subjectively) seems very high, therefore I am wondering if The Richest website is reliable (I'm not saying it isn't, but I have not heard of it before). Any comments appreciated. Thanks. Melbourne3163 (talk) 21:07, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

Update: In view of information received at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard under the section 'Source quoted for singer-songwriter Tina Arena's wealth - is it reliable?' (today's date) I am sure that the quoted reference put there in good faith by another editor, is not reliable and therefore have removed it. Melbourne3163 (talk) 23:38, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

Language and Culture

This is going to be vague but make no apologies. I was a young lad at the time and her songs from the Don't Ask album were landmark in many ways and certainly resonated with most of us at the time - especially Sorento Moon.

So the style of this bio is to a large extent abstract and appears to have been written by someone that really did not experience Tina as she made her breakthroughs in Australia. I can't put my finger on it but it appears to be a strange mixture of Americanisms and marketing speak. I am not suggesting for one moment that you have to have a relationship with Tina and her music to write a good bio, but your writing should and least express a clear train of thought with regard to her career and influence - this bio is not only esoteric it is impersonal and all over the place. The section on her career is missing parts and does not flow.

Let's start by getting rid of the perception that she is American - she is not - but heck reading some of this you would be excused for thinking so. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.220.134.226 (talk) 12:34, 8 April 2015 (UTC)
