Format changes[edit]

I can recall some changes in format which I do not have dates for -

  • overseas properties - possibly with the advent of Catherine Gee in 2003
  • giving keys to all guests rather than to those 'beating' the panel

A few points...[edit]

WIth regard to Stefanie Powers, does the USA bit after her name mean there was an American version of TTKH/it was filmed in America, or just that she's an American who happened to present the show? It's not quite clear what it means. Also the 'currently airs on BBC 2', I don't usually watch BBC2 in the afternoons but I'm sure it's not been on for a while. Anyone got any info on whether it's been axed etc? I'll probably go digging for info later.

On a final note, I see there are referneces placed at the end, but would it not be...'neater?' I guess to place direct citations within the article? Considering two or three references have been included, it'd be nice to see them with citations, if that makes sense. londonsista | Prod 12:28, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've performed a copyedit to clear things up. As a matter of conjecture, being the businessman he is I'd say that Frost was looking for an opportunity to sell the format into the US and taking on an American presenter and touring US properties was to facilitate that. As far as I'm aware, it has not paid off and he's left with half a show which is harder for a UK audience to participate in. I don't know if it will be axed in the foreseeable future, rather like the Spice Girls, it seems to take a rest from time to time before reappearing. I believe inline refs are required by Wikipedia for their higher article ratings, but my problem with them is that they do make a mess of the source text unless sensibly formatted. Here's a discussion I had on the issue on another article Talk:British_Airways_Flight_38#Format_of_references and the resulting text - [1]. I'm happy for them to be moved inline using the that format unless they appear so frequently that it negatively effects readability. Thank you for the copyedit, makes more sense in my head now! And after writing my above post I read some Wiki guidelines on citing, I guess there's no immediate need for inline citation and the references are adequately provided so, yeah, thank you. :) londonsista | Prod 18:53, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Suspension of disbelief[edit]

Given the obscurity of the people featured, it is surely the case that the panel are let in on the secret in advance and then go through a cherade of narrowing it down and eventually coming up with a name. Otherwise there would be many more occasions when, however many clues were given, they simply wouldn't be able to identify the mystery celebrity. Something about this needs to go in the article, preferably with a source. Beorhtwulf (talk) 17:49, 23 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Put bit about Loyd Grossman in a more prominent place in the article[edit]

Why is it that, given he played a major role in the programme, the fact that Loyd Grossman was in this programme has been pushed to the box on the right hand side of the article? Information about what he did in the programme should go in the main prose text of the article. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 15:18, 19 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Split?[edit]

Like Top Gear's two versions, might it be a good idea to have separate articles for the two versions of this programme? Certainly the genre could be said to be different, and they're aimed at notably different audiences. Once expanded to include the new version, descriptions of the format etc. would have to be doubled across most of the article anyway. U-Mos (talk) 18:53, 1 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ivana Trump episode[edit]

Lost in the mists of time I'm sure, but I remember an episode with her, while she was still married to the donald. And yet, there is no mention here. Am I mistaken? My memory could be playing tricks, and my perfunctory searches reveal nothing. Roxy the dog. bark 09:33, 21 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Oooh oooh oooh an IP has added to the list confirming that the donald's home was on this show. I look forward to the description. I could provide one, but I have no source. was bloody hilarious. haha. -Roxy, Zalophus californianus. barcus 22:09, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Celebrity panellists and homeowners[edit]

It would be good if someone could please add the lineups for the episodes from 1991 to 2008, which are currently missing. TrottieTrue (talk) 22:14, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
