Class badge[edit]
I like the idea of showing the class logo. I have noticed that most other sailing class articles in en.wikipedia do not have the class logo. The one recently posted is a little rough looking. I have a really spiffy vector graphics version I can post when I have a minute. Also, somebody needs to fix the layout or fix my browser. There is a big blank area to the left of the specs. I uploaded my own drawing of the logo, based on the sail decals: 100px Some sails come with purple on the top of the Thistle and some with blue. My drawing just happened to be done with blue. You will notice that the Thistle top is blue on #3922:

Cold vs. Hot molded[edit]
Deleted reference to "cold" molded construction. Cold molded construction is done with epoxy. Wood Thistles were always glued with, I think, resorcinol, or some other such glue, and heated in an oven. Definately not cold molding. Cold molding has been talked about for Thistle construction, but I don't think it will ever be approved by the class. A cold molded Thistle would be too stiff, so GRP and old wooden Thistles would no longer be competative. I have a box of Bagpipes going back to about 1978, and have read about this stuff. I could dig them out and put in some citations. Or, I could spend my free time sailing my Thistle. Hmmm. Mrees1997 00:54, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
4000 Thistles[edit]
The fact that Great Midwest delivered Thistle #4000 does not mean that 4000 Thistles have been made. I am sure that a number of them have fallen through the cracks as hull numbers were divvied up between the builders over the years. There is a list of known Thistle hull numbers in the Green Book. Maybe somebody should look at that and figure out how many were really made. Mrees1997 00:57, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Thistleclass.png[edit]
Image:Thistleclass.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
