  • ... that in his memoir This Boy's Life, Tobias Wolff writes about his childhood misdeeds including stealing and forging checks? Source: "His efforts to escape from his abusive stepfather and ineffectual mother lead Tobias Wolff to lie, cheat, steal, drink, run away and forge checks." – Solomon, Charles, 1990, LA Times [1]
    • ALT1: ... that This Boy's Life, Tobias Wolff's memoir of childhood, was adapted into a film by a screenwriter and director who both personally identified with the subject matter? Source: "Veteran screenwriter Robert Getchell, who adapted Wolff's book, also was surprised how much "This Boy's Life" stirred complicated emotions he'd experienced in his youth as well. ... Michael Caton-Jones found it easy to identify with young Toby Wolff" – Goldstein, Patrick, 1993, LA Times [2]

  • Article is new enough and long enough. While not a DYK issue, I notice the lack of a plot section and that the reception section might read better when rewritten like suggested in WP:RECEPTION - especially since the sheer amount of quotes raises some copyvio concerns. Don't know much about the reliability of the sources. AGFing on 5 and 7. 6 does not seem to contain the quote. I like the first hook somewhat better. QPQ a bit basic, but presentable. • Hi Jo-Jo Eumerus, thank you for the review. I can take a pass on the reception section. As for "6 does not seem to contain the quote", I may be confusing your meaning, but the quote is pulled from page 7 paragraph 4. Lastly, it's a nonfiction memoir, so a plot is probably not necessary, and you mention it's not a DYK issue. If however, it is a problem, I'll withdraw as it's been some decades since I read this book. Cheers —siroχo 10:36, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
      • Going to ask at the DYK project page about the number of quotes. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 11:23, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
        • Looks like folks there recommend that you paraphrase many of the quotes so that they are prose. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 07:44, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
          • Jo-Jo Eumerus, I took another pass on it a couple hours ago if you'd like to take a look. No rush, I will almost certainly continue to revisit over the coming days. —siroχo 07:53, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
