Hawaii to Malay [sic][edit]

That English comes from the IMDb where it is marked "literal title". That means that at some point in the past 15 years, an IMDb contributor provided his personal literal translation.
That does not mean we are honour-bound to hold to that.
"Malay" is an adjective normally, not a noun. As a noun, it is a nationality or a language. Geographically, it could be a poetic or metaphorical noun, but is that likely here?
So what does the Japanese really mean?

  • Malaya, the British colony?
  • Malay coast?
  • Malay sea?
  • the area where Malays are found?

The movie concerns specific attacks on specific territories, non-poetic territories. Varlaam (talk) 17:44, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
