Location, setting[edit]

This article claimed that the movie was set-in and filmed in Sugarland, Texas, but this is not correct. Watching the movie, it is clear that they went through several other towns, so the setting is only partially Sugarland. The scenes at the pre-release facility were filmed at that facility, which is some distance away from Sugarland. Also, they end up at an area that is supposed to be the US/Mexico border, and the filling shows cliffs that are certainly not found anywhere near Sugarland. These scenes were definitely not filmed in Sugarland. Do we know for sure that any part of the movie was actually filmed in Sugarland? I changed the statement to say, "The movie partially takes place and was partially filmed in Sugarland, Texas." Johntex\talk 18:07, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Some parts were filmed and set in Sugar Land for sure. I live in Sugar Land by the way and recognized U.S. Highway 59 and 90A before everything around was developed—before U.S. Highway 59 became a freeway. The pre-release facility is indeed in present-day northwestern part of Sugar Land as well. Steven Spielberg misspelled Sugar Land as "Sugarland". —RJN 07:01, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:49884.1020.A.jpg[edit]

Image:49884.1020.A.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Rewrite[edit]

This article needs a serious rewrite. It blurs the actual events and the movie events together. The actual events should be in their own article or at the very least a seperatate section of this one. In the main paragraph, the names "Ila Fae Dent", "Robert" and "Kenneth Crone" should never be seen. You people also need to read the definition of what Trivia is, as well as Wikipedia's policy on Trivia. Some of it isn't even really Trivia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.112.16.133 (talk) 06:20, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. The plot section is entirely copied from an article written about the death of the real life officer who was kidnapped. The plot section ought to explain the plot of the movie. In the movie, Lou Jean wasn't losing her child to her mother, since her mother was dead. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.167.49.116 (talk) 12:21, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Correct this![edit]

If you are going to use the names of the real people in this please get the facts right. Ila Fae Holiday (Dent) never assisted in breaking out Robert Dent. Mr. Dent was in fact on parole from Louisiana. The couple were speeding through Beaumont (and refused to pull over when the cops tried to pull them over because Mr. Dent feared going back to prison, being he was already on parole) but when their car overheated they had to pull off into the woods. They went to a house in the woods and told the people there that they had been robbed, and the people called the cops. Trooper Kenneth Crone was the first responder and when he tried to arrest Dent is when they kidnapped him. The real couple were trying to get to Ila Fae's mothers house to see two children, not one as it shows in the movie. The movie is a very loose adaptation of the actual events. So please do not mix the two up! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scwright (talkcontribs) 00:59, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
