Lacking Info[edit]

It says this is a completely different Lynch type film but it lacks any credibility and if you watch the movie it is very much done in Lynch style.

According to [1] Richard Farnsworth is the oldest actor to receive a nomination for an oscar in a leading role, but not the oldest oscar nominee in general.

I am currently completing the summary of the film. It is not yet complete and I apologise for the delay.

Fair use rationale for Image:The Straight Story DVD cover.jpg[edit]

Image:The Straight Story DVD cover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:39, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I made a few additions to this page adding a couple of points (fire, cigarette smoking -- as DL themes). Also streamlining some grammar. -A.S.Krisna.E —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.145.157.184 (talk) 05:04, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Awards and nominations[edit]

This section had no formatting and was just a very long list with some repetition and unnecessary information. Feel free to put back in a formatted and edited version... Rogwan (talk) 21:44, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Plot[edit]

I think Gone With the Wind could be summarized in half the space. It's so detailed that it destroys any desire to read it. For example...

"The next obstacle that Alvin must overcome is that something goes wrong with the mower's engine. He stops in the middle of the road, unsure of how to proceed. He is close to his goal and is trying to reach the end of his journey. A huge tractor passes him on the road and the driver shows compassion by towing Alvin to where he wants to go. The driver of the tractor then gives a hand signal that this is the end of the line and bids farewell as Alvin continues with his journey to see his brother."

...could be condensed to...

"When Alvin has engine trouble, a tractor driver tows Alvin to his destination."

...without losing anything of importance. WilliamSommerwerck (talk) 20:55, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have attempted to condense the plot. User: Galaxycat 25 August 2010
