Fan community reaction[edit]

I'm sure we've all seen the YouTube clips of people reacting in shock and horror at what transpired in the episode. If there are articles mentioning the reactions, then I think that should be added to the reception part of the article. --Matt723star (talk) 19:39, 6 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If by "that", you mean mention of the reactions sourced from articles, I agree. But we shouldn't link to the videos themselves, either as references or external links. Some are pretty funny, but no real educational value. I personally recommend watching them, but Wikipedia isn't hear to help things "go viral". And probably violate copyright, even if you can only hear the audio.

I've added a short paragraph about fan reaction videos, linking to a couple of articles that discuss it as well as having some of the videos embedded on them. I've also mentioned the parody reaction video from That Guy with the Glasses.2.28.174.217 (talk) 19:00, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Good! That's exactly what I meant by adding it, I didn't mean for it as a way to get something viral, I meant for it to be added because it was something that happened pertaining to the episode. Should we be linking to the Game of Thrones wiki?[edit]

I linked to the Game of Thrones wiki's article on this subject and was reverted by User:Corvoe with the edit summary Links to fan wikis aren't appropriate for Wikipedia.[1] I would normally be sympathetic to this position, but the fact is that there are several FA-level articles on similar topics that link to similar fan wikis, such as Palpatine. I also think that this link fits in accordance with WP:ELNO (for instance, fan wikis are free to include more in-depth plot summaries than we are, so it does "provide a unique resource beyond what the article would contain if it became a featured article"). I think the difference between the Game of Thrones Wikia and Wookieepedia is that Wookieepedia has its own article. It's notable on its own, so its inclusion there makes sense. I don't know that the GoT Wikia (which I contribute to, in a mostly unrelated note) has "a substantial history of stability and a substantial number of editors". Perhaps in the future, but at the moment, it's seeming like it isn't up to par with WP:ELNO. My edit summary was inaccurate, and I apologize for that, but even after reading up a little bit, I stick by my revert. Corvoe (speak to me) 06:47, 22 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Inclusion of "The Red Wedding" in the lead section[edit]

It's been removed, but I think it should be put back up. Whenever the episode is discussed, people usually refer to it as "The Red Wedding". Here's a quote from Buzzfeed; "But nothing, and I mean NOTHING, prepared me for Season 3, Episode 9, “The Rains of Castamere,” aka THE RED WEDDING." [3]. One person called it "The Red Wedding", and because of that you think an unofficial name should be included in the lede? The episode is called "The Rains of Castamere"; that is it's only name, and no other name should be mentioned, especially supposed fan names. --TedEdwards 13:19, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
