Incorrect Information[edit]

If Snap couldn't get permission to use lyrics from "Let the Words Flow" why do some of the lyrics still appear in the finished product?

Wild Pitch were a US hip hop label. I doubt they would have signed a dance group from Germany.

Snap sampled Chill Rob G's line "It's gettin kinda hectic" from "Let the Words Flow". As a result Wild Pitch approached Snap for damages. Wild Pitch were given permission to use Snap's music to release their own version of The Power with more lyrics lifted from "Let the Words Flow". This release was credited to Power Jam and/or Chill Rob G. - Skyworlka (talk) 11:50, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There's gotta be some confusion or incorrect information... on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ride_the_Rhythm it shows the original version of the song as appearing on the album which was released in 1989.. which was on Wild Pitch Records.. can someone properly fix this puzzle of release dates and legal issues? Centerone (talk) 15:09, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"The Power" only appears on the 1990 re-releases, not on the original 1989 version. KovacsUr (talk) 13:11, 17 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The version from Wild Pitch was there first, as can be read on the Discogs page: http://www.discogs.com/artist/14485-Power-Jam The group's name was initially Power Jam, but couldn't use the samples from Chill Rob G. After problems arose, they re-recorded the track under another name with Turbo B and with a nother name, Snap! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.121.245.234 (talk) 00:58, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Discogs is wrong. Power Jam was the pseudo-group Wild Pitch created to cash in on the success of Snap! 123.243.77.37 (talk) 00:04, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Opening sample[edit]

Where does the sample at the start of the song come from? It sounds like it could be a news report about a new product or some such. --Slashme 18:28, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a bit confused, I seem to remember a black and white video with the same music and different lyrics that came out about the same time as this song did. Anyone know who it was by or if I'm just remembering incorrectly? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.192.173.10 (talk) 04:12, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like this has been resolved also Freikorp (talk) 01:53, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article name?[edit]

curently it is "The Power (1990 song)". shouldn't it be "The Power (Snap! song)"? Donny (talk) 17:38, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like someone has fixed that accordingly. Freikorp (talk) 01:45, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia[edit]

I have removed excess trivia from the main page on the grounds such Un-notable and trivial mentions are undermining wikipedia's credibility in general. I list the information below should official wikipedia policy ever state such trivia should definitely be included in articles: Freikorp (talk) 01:45, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In TV shows

  • Was used as background music during a striptease scene in Brigada.
  • Sung in the second episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air by Will Smith, and used later in another Season 1 episode Banks Shot when Will goes to a pool hall.

Used in commercials for:

Also I really don't think trivia like this should be mentioned unless it is referenced. Freikorp (talk) 01:53, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

to freikorp: and u r who btw? to decide that on your own? most wikipedia articles of a similar kind has a section like this. if i hadnt come to the talks section i would ve left without these information.

one for putting it back to the article, and puttin freikorp to... well i wont say that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.234.85.113 (talk) 11:03, 1 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
