Commentary[edit]

I removed some commentary added by an anon because it seemed inappropriately biased towards a particular point of view. I'm sure we can reintegrate portions of it into the article, but for the moment it's better to leave it out. Johnleemk | Talk 08:38, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reception and Massachusetts law comment[edit]

The comment about the proposed/considered Massachusetts law may be relevant, but does it actually belong under The Reception section? There is no indication from this comment that it was in any way influenced by The Jigsaw Man (or any of Niven's other stories in this setting). Was the story brought up as context when the law was being debated, or anything similar? There is no mention in the story that convicts were ever allowed to barter organs for reduced sentences, and no indication that anyone involved with the proposed law was influenced by, or even aware of, the story. So, how is this part of the story's "reception"?

If there is some demonstrable connection, this might be better moved to a section for Legacy or Cultural Impact, with a note on what the connection was. If there is no such connection, then the comment is simply about an unrelated proposed law to which the commenter sees some similarity, and it should be removed. 2601:600:A401:83E0:85D5:2659:5851:9DFC (talk) 23:44, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
