Keep an eye on the episodes[edit]

Apparently the future episodes shown on this article are based on what was given in ntv7's website, but the actual run did not go consistently with the given synopses as of yesterday. Anyway I'll have to remove the future episodes from the article until they've been aired.

Fair use rationale for Image:The Firm logo.JPG[edit]

Image:The Firm logo.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

"it became quite apparent that it is quite different"[edit]

I think to say: "it became quite apparent that it is quite different [from The Apprentice]" is rather subjective. I don't think it's apparent that the show quite different. The overall concept is the same, the style of filming is similar - as is the music and the use of city shots to separate scenes. In fact, I'm amazed that the producers haven't been sued for plagiarism. The difference involving the team captains doesn't make it 'quite different' - it's still essentially the same as The Apprentice and anyone watching it for more than a moment would think so too.

Personally, I'd like to see the section edited to reword that description. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.51.126.125 (talk) 13:48, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To understand this properly, you need to reference the article on reality television, specifically, the section on game shows, under the job search sub-section. Essentially, The Firm is an elimination style game show. The thing it has in common with The Apprentice is that the tasks are similar. However, these are tasks that happen in the real corporate world, The Apprentice cannot copyright or protect such tasks as it is not unique. They are normal everyday assignments. That is where the similarity ends. To say that it is a copy of The Apprentice would be to accuse every single singing competition to be a copy of a version earlier than itself, as they would all be similar in some ways.
Following are some of the key differences between the shows:
The Apprentice The Firm
  • Contestants live together.
  • There is only one judge.
  • The assistants were not well known before the show aired.
  • Assistants only observe. They do not assist or advise in any way.
  • Assistants do not have the final say.
  • Contestants get rewards throughout the competitions.
  • Contestants do not live together. This is a major difference.
  • There are three judges at various stages of the competition.
  • All three judges are well known corporate personalities in their respective industries.
  • Judges are also mentors who advise the teams. This is a major difference.
  • All the judges have the final say in their respective sections. They each eliminate contestants.
  • Contestants do not receive rewards.
These variations are sufficient to make it "quite different" from The Apprentice. -- S Masters (talk) 07:33, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
