The Chosen One is particularly common in Young adult fiction as it often focuses on identity formation. Kim Wilkins says "the genre demands this kind of correspondence between YA identity angst and fantasy’s destined-for-greatness inclinations."[1] She also interprets the Chosen One narrative as focusing on class: "it is often linked to class and individualism, rather than the kind of equity and collectivism YAF often celebrates in resistance and revolutions."[1] The void century (talk) 22:02, 30 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
