Notability[edit]

A single reference (Landry) seems insufficient to establish notability. Also, the phrase "A coterie of gentlemen" makes me wish I had an electronic copy of the book to check for copyright violations. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 03:04, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in The Boston Club[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of The Boston Club's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "nba1962":

  • From National Book Award for Fiction: "National Book Awards – 1962". National Book Foundation. Retrieved March 18, 2018.
  • From The Moviegoer: "National Book Awards – 1962". National Book Foundation. Retrieved 2012-03-30. (With essays by Sara Zarr and Tom Roberge from the Awards 60-year anniversary blog.)
  • From Walker Percy: National Book Awards, National Book Foundation, 1962, retrieved 2012-03-30. With essays by Sara Zarr and Tom Roberge from the Awards 60-year anniversary blog.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 07:15, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Segregation[edit]

it has been suggested this club is segregated without any current evidence. The Lord of Misrule (talk) 05:45, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not seeing what the issue here is that requires the use of the admin tools. You may discuss this issue with any editors, not just admins. Admins have no more authority than any other editor, just extra tools that would be irresponsible for the entire community to have.
Regarding your question, there is a cited line in this article that states "The Boston Club is a social club composed solely of Anglo-Americans". The lead of the article does not need citations, they only need to be in the main body. 331dot (talk) 06:59, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't every club segregated, whether it be racial, economic and in some cases religious-New Orleans has had Jewish Only Clubs. It seems as though labeling this club segregated us pushing a negative narrative that is an inherent part of any social club. I know this is 3 months old but the slow blowing edit war continues with someone occasionally removing the "segregation" bit, ther is possible socking going on. Even after 331dots answer, The Lord of Misrule (referred to as LM hereafter) removed it again 2 months later (331dot answered March 2023 after LM was reverted by me, then in May LM removed it yet again), now just yesterday another account pops up after a year of inactivity to remove (without explanation) it as well, now I'm not saying LM is socking but other drive by IPs and accounts have performed the same unexplained removal so the unexplained removals are probably the same person with LM being a different user.
