Comment[edit]

i think this page needs an edit.

The Tena entry has been substantially changed over the last year - and not for the better: it now reads like a tourism brochure and is completely misleading - Tena as a "top industrialized centers of Ecuador"?!?!?! Excuse me, not only a tourist brochure, but one written by someone who evidently has never set foot in Tena or who is outright lying

The recent history of Tena as a centre of one of the world's most vibrant indigenous struggles has been deleted - despite attracting wide attention amongst academic scholars and NGOs - all in all it sounds like Newspeak agents (or people with no concept) have edited it Judith Malina (talk) 11:00, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Inappropriate material[edit]

Well, Tena is in Colombia now it looks like. This article is horrible. I agree with everyone below, sounds like a travel brochure, but more importantly, THE LOCATION ON THE MAP IS A CITY IN COLOMBIA!!!!! Embarrassing.71.229.5.31 (talk) 21:00, 25 January 2011 (UTC)Phungster[reply]

There is a lot of good info here for visitors to Tena and it shouldn't just be deleted but it shouldn't really be here either - wikipedia is not a travel guide. This stuff would be good for wikitravel.Kotare (talk) 08:24, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've subsequently removed that info about food and accomodation from this page and moved it to the wikitravel article for Tena (which was seriously lacking before). This is good material but, upon reflection, it shouldn't be here at all - see "what wikipedia is not" - it's not a travel guide. I suggest the person/persons who contributed this material invest their time and energy in bolstering the very threadbare coverage of ecuadorian amazonia on wikitravel instead. It's good stuff but you don't see Quito's page here with info. on backpackers and good discos - just because Tena is much smaller doesn't mean it should be any different.Kotare (talk) 08:57, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Biopiracy stuff[edit]

I don't know if it's true or not but it's pretty freaking controversial - how do you think past Jatun Sacha volunteers(and there would be hundreds if not thousands by now) are going to feel reading that? It implies that they spent all that time and money f**king over the locals they were there to help - pretty "stink" feeling, no? I'm sorry but blog entries are not verfiable sources for wikipedia - just like gossip columns in women's magazines (I've seen people try to pass them off as references!!) are not. If you can find some reliable sources for that stuff, put it back up. Some people may not like it but at least that way it will be legit.
