Additional Info

The Ukrainian language version of the story with all words starting with the letter "P-p" -- "П-п" is actually an abridged translation of the Russian language text.

Let's remove non-English examples

Greetings; I have two concerns with the proliferation of non-English examples in this article.

1. They are largely uncited. Obviously it is easy enough for anyone to verify that they all begin with the same letter, but what do they mean? Are they legitimate? Do they make any sense? Where did they come from? Were they copyrighted? Nobody knows; we don't speak these languages.
2. This is the English Wikipedia. Our readers understand and speak English. We do not expect or anticipate that they be able to comprehend any other languages. This Wikipedia is dedicated to English-language articles. There is no profit in us carrying non-English examples of most things, especially a linguistic curiosity such as this. We should rather concentrate our efforts on expanding our repository of good examples in the English language, and we must delete these uncited, gibberish, irrelevant non-English examples to free up space and avoid wasting our readers' time. 1. I agree that we should cite them and provide commentary on their significance, if they have any.

1b. It's impossible to copyright a short phrase (in the USA at least), so we're probably fine on that front.

1c. Maybe some editors do speak those languages.

2. Articles about linguistic phenomena often carry examples in multiple languages. See any page about a grammatical feature. Article (grammar), for example. Dingolover6969 (talk) 00:14, 12 May 2023 (UTC)
