Owczarek Podhalanski[edit]

In case anyone cares for etymology:

owca is polish for sheep.
hala is the name of a mountain in the High Tatra, also it means mountain meadows in general.
pod means under.
the Podhale is a region in southern Poland.
-anski is the adjective word ending. It should correctly be written with ń.

I can't find out what the job of a sheep-herder is called in polish, but "owczarek" appears to be reserved for dogs, although grammatically it would seem an appropriate word form for the profession.
