mini tacos[edit]

What do we call mini tacos then? Taquillos?

Response to the question "What do we call mini tacos...": Taquito as a name for this dish seems to me American. A taquito in small towns in Baja California Mexico is a small taco. Of course there are regional differences. Taquito Eating Contest[edit]

Taquitos in popular culture[edit]

Mexican dish?[edit]

this is'nt an American dish and Puerto Rican food is that same as Mexican food. Mexican consist of Native American cuisine. Taquito in Unites States,Named "Flutes" (flautas) in Sinaloa,México.Also "tacos dorados".(Golden tacos),tortilla fried by the half. Puerto Rican cuisine is a mix of European (Spain) and African i.e. Rice and beans is African cuisine. I agree with this. Most "Mexican" food served in the US it seems is not truly mexican. I'm not sure there is an easy fix, though, because so many people identify this type of food with the Mexican identity--76.85.193.236 (talk) 01:11, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder about the accuracy of this article in general. I've ordered flautas many in the southwest US from some very mexican type places and gotten a little fried corn tortillas. The fact that the source is "About.com" and some food marketing site does not add to the article at all. As to what small tacos are called, I've only ever seen them called tacos. I think the large size is an American invention (I can't say) My experience is so-cal mexican, so I am sure there are regional differences. Perhaps this should be split into an "American pop culture" and "Mexican" sections to distinquish the terms popularly used in American food service. That way people wouldn't read this and then be surprised when they ask for a taquito in some mexican barrio and get a bewildered look as some one hands them a taco. 70.102.76.74 (talk)

Tacos Dorado[edit]

Taquitos vs flautas[edit]

The way I've always seen it is taquitos use corn tortillas and flautas use flour tortillas.

Tacos Dorados are not Taquitos[edit]

Tacos Dorados means Crispy Tacos. Yes Taquitos are a crispy type of taco, but rolled tacos and flautas are just two types of "tacos" that can be crispy. If I went to a restaurant and ordered Tacos Dorados and received flautas or taquitos without being informed ahead of time, I would be confused. There is no representation of any non-rolled crispy taco on the page. When I think Tacos Dorados, I think of a deep-fried hardshell. All oranges are fruits... but not all fruits are oranges, if you catch my drift.

Also the image of the taquitos covered in a mountain of yellow shredded cheese has my ancestors rolling over in their graves. 71.194.207.38 (talk) 01:12, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
