Cast list sortability[edit]

Why isn't the cast list table's column of "From" sortable? Obviously, because it is tagged "class=unsortable", but is there a good reason for the tag? SDSpivey (talk) 18:45, 28 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@SDSpivey: Given that the location is a combination of both a providence/state/territory and a city, it might have some issues when attempting to sort. Adding to that, it isn't clear to me if it should sort alphabetically by city or by region. --Super Goku V (talk) 01:28, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
FYI, it would sort alphabetically by the city. I see no reason for needing that. Bgsu98 (Talk) 02:11, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, gotcha and thank you for clearing this up. --Super Goku V (talk) 06:07, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Merged tribe[edit]

Can anyone help to change the merged tribe name from “TBA” to “Va Va” QUEKM2009 (talk) 11:16, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a reliable source that establishes that that’s the name? Bgsu98 (Talk) 11:34, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
CBS YouTube Xoruz (talk) 13:21, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'd be against us putting in info about items that haven't actually been aired. It's hardly a spoiler, but the actual name means very little unless it's written about in prose. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 13:25, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, looks good to me. Bgsu98 (Talk) 21:15, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Contestant Photos[edit]

The removal of Carson is in line with 99% of the other Survivor title pages in regards to pictures by only having famous contestants, the Sole Survivor and returnees who became Sole Survivors, contestants with Wikipedia pages, and contestants that have played more than once on it. With recent allegations of fraud and theft against Carson by very prominent puzzle sellers, it would be inappropriate to have him on the Wikipedia page until the matter is solved or addressed by him, as well as it being alleged that he added this photo of him himself. Dylan Fourie (talk) 05:18, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know why any of that would matter. We include images of people that appeared on the show if we can get a free image to use. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 05:49, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
then why not just add the entire cast to every page. pictures of every single person on Survivor Wiki Dylan Fourie (talk) 07:51, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Those are not free images. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 08:29, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
they literally do not have to be free. Survivor Wiki has no connection to the production of Survivor and use interviews and the photos. Dylan Fourie (talk) 08:32, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Survivor Wiki isn't Wikipedia. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 10:08, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
if it has to be free, then why accept an official staff photo from NASA that isn't free. Dylan Fourie (talk) 08:40, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please see [1] where the license is shown that the image is in the public domain (free to use by CC-BY-SA). Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 10:09, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. His photo should be removed as he has no notoriety. The photo has been suspected to have been added by Carson himself or one of his loyal supporters after they (or he) failed in creating a page for him (or himself). I also suspect sockpuppets are on this page. Kokaynegeesus (talk) 19:48, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What? It really makes no difference to Wikipedia who uploaded the image. It's a public domain image. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 21:05, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If we add his photo, we ought to add the fact that he allegedly scammed another puzzle making company. OnceAdream93 (talk) 21:11, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Provide a reliable source. Bgsu98 (Talk) 21:13, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Here we go. He's being accused of it. I removed the photo in question along with a linked news article. OnceAdream93 (talk) 21:15, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To further build on this, if we are to include Carson's image without any associated wikipedia article, I believe we should create a "cast controversy" section. This should provide further context on Carson, especially as it's obvious he, or his friends, continually readd his image. OnceAdream93 (talk) 21:23, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have zero idea how the image of a person on the show has any connection to this. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 21:40, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Should we include this in the article? It is obvious that Carson himself is ensuring that his image stays on this page for the purpose of self promotion. He isn't a noteworthy competitor, unless we consider his allegations. OnceAdream93 (talk) 12:16, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@OnceAdream93 Feel free to add that to the article if you believe it is appropriate. Bgsu98 (Talk) 12:38, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I fail to see why we would think that the person in question is adding the image... nor why it would particularly matter if he was aside from our WP:COI rules.
Images on Wikipedia are for illustrative pirpose. Having an image of one or more of the people on the show help to illustrate the encyclopedia. It matters not if the person is particularly famous, rather that the image meets our copyright obligations. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 13:57, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Would it be alright if I added every single cast members photo, then? This is unusual for other survivor pages. Most just post images of noteworthy contestants, such as professional athletes. 2605:59C8:22AF:DA10:1546:6ECB:C660:ED22 (talk) 04:20, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have such free images? Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 09:06, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
