Surely the title is "Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio" rather than "Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano", even in the newly released version!

- I'm not sure I agree. ("...and stop calling me 'Shirley.'")^[1] Wasn't the album originally released under the title Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano? That is the title on the original LP release(s) in the U.S. (Columbia Masterworks M 33233). The title (without "Trio") appears on the front and rear album cover - and again in Bobby Finn's liner notes - as well as on both (side 'A' and side 'B') labels. The word "Trio" is nowhere to be found on this 1976(?) Columbia Masterworks release and a quick internet search reveals no 1976-era Bolling/Rampal LP with any other title except "Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano." Was the original album perhaps titled differently in different countries? Of course, it could still be true that Bolling's intended / original title for the Suite included the word "trio" at the end but then the title used for the album was (originally) truncated by CBS/Columbia out of ignorance(?) or by accident(?) or for some minor (marketing? / graphics layout?) reason? Or perhaps Bolling / Columbia regretted the title's imprecision and/or the unintentional non-recognition of the bassist and drummer in the original title and belatedly changed the title to reference the full jazz trio? In any case, even if the original title lacked the word "trio," that may not justify 'moving' the wikipedia article / changing the article title yet again since it seems apparent that the current / contemporary title is Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio. It is unlikely anyone would be confused by the slight variation or think these two titles refer to two completely different "Suites" Pugetbill (talk) 16:18, 24 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Original recording location[edit]

I removed the "Versailles" location in the infobox under "Recorded" as I have been unable (so far) to verify that the original audio recording was made at Versailles. There exists a video of Bolling and Rampal "playing" the Suite at Versailles, but it seems possible (to me) that this video was made AFTER the original (studio?) recording - either as a follow-up "Live" recording or as simply a promotional video with the players "playing along" to the original audio recording. Based on YouTube excerpts I've seen, there appear to be no microphones used in the Versailles video - at least none anywhere within camera range. I've examined my 1976 LP also but find no mention of recording venue. Further, as far as I recall, the original album was never promoted as anything other than a "studio" recording and it seems a Versailles recording location would have been mentioned / noted somewhere if that was indeed the original recording venue. If anyone can find a reliable source confirming the original recording venue, I hope they will add that info to the article (with citation) Pugetbill (talk) 17:35, 24 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
