Note[edit]

Removing the long plot analysis since it is in violation of the wikipedia rule that prohibits original research. It takes a source not connected directly to the play and does a (very weak) analysis of the plot structure thorugh this theory. This is clearly an evaluation made by the wiki editor as the sources given are not about this play at all.

Actually, the same is true of the Character Analysis, Music and Genre sections. They are personal interpretations and not objective facts. As such, they are original research and break Wiki policy.

The Theme/Idea section was an anti-Bush rant that has no place in an encyclopedia. This is not a place for personal opinions about politics!

The Language section was all personal opinion and unsupported analysis. Even if it were supported, this is not the place for analysis and evaluation. It is not an essay. Wikipedia is not a place to do this. Keep it to the facts that can be demonstrated by verifiable, valid sources.

The About The Author section merely repeated biographical data from the page on David Hare. This page is not about him, it is about this play. Keep it on topic.

The Plot section was unnecessarily long and gave much, much more detail than is required by wikipedia. Plot sections are not for giving a slaving, scene by scene account of what happens in the play but for giving a brief outling of the main narrative. As such, I have rewritten the Contextual Information section (which gave the plot anyhow) and renamed it 'Plot'. Since this play coveres real events, there is little need to describe them in detail. The reader can look them up on their own wikipedia pages if need be.

The 'Characters' section was far too long and besides, this topic is both unnecessary and unencyclopedic. The reader knows the topic of the play. If they want to know the role that the key political figures played in the lead up to the Iraq War, they can they can read about that elsewhere on Wikipedia.

Moved all the necessary information from the 'Spectacle' section to other places in the article so that this unorthadox and unnecessary section can be removed.

Right! After a lot of hard work I have removed all of the personal opinions, original research, analysis and evlauation from this article! It is much more appropriate as a result (for evidence of this, see any of the artilces in the Plays by David Hare list; they all look much more like this does now than it did in its previous incarnation). This type of writing made up most of the article's content, and it is now quite a bit shorter. This is a shame, but better to have a shorter article that meets Wikipedia's standards than a longer piece that is not appropriate for this site. Feel free to add and edit as much as you like, but could we PLEASE keep original research and personal opinions (which includes an editor's attempts to analyse the play, which does not belong here) out of the article so we don't have to do a major edit like this again.
