Future expansion[edit]

I've just created this stub, which relies heavily on primary sources. However, secondary sources clearly exist and should be used to flesh out the article. In particular, the New York Times chart generated a lot of discussion, some of which could be summarized here. Moreover, Byron & Wattenberg's IEEE article, and their largely identical self-published white paper, have received a lot of citations in the academic literature; these citing papers could also be used as secondary sources. —Psychonaut (talk) 08:46, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

actual original devlopment is from 2000[edit]

This publication http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpl/login.jsp?tp=&arnumber=885098&url=http%3A%2F%2Fieeexplore.ieee.org%2Fxpls%2Fabs_all.jsp%3Farnumber%3D885098 is the earliest I can find which introduces the concept of a streamgraph as a themeriver. I don't have time to look in detail right now, but this work has more citations than the referenced paper and was published 8 years prior. Thus it doesn't seem right to say Byron developed these unless there were significant changes made to themeriver that I'm not seeing at first glance.
