The result was that the merger was carried out by an unregistered user, 69.118.34.240, instead of an admin. Although there was consensus for a merge, there was also consensus that "Vivian (hurricane)" was not the right title. So, although it has not been carried out correctly, I have been forced to close the discussion as the merge has gone ahead.

Merger proposal[edit]

I propose that Vivian and this article are merged. I created the former not realising that this one on the same topic existed and don't mind which is merged into which. --Bermicourt (talk) 15:51, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Strong Support for merging into this article. They are essentially the same topic. By the way, I highly doubt that this "Vivian" storm was ever a hurricane. After the article merger, this article should probably be renamed to Cyclone Vivian, as is the precedent for other European windstorm articles. - Comment. The overwhelming WP:COMMONNAME for this appears to be "Storm Vivian", often "Winter Storm Vivian". I only found one instance of "Cyclone Vivian" on Google books. --Bermicourt (talk) 16:57, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Vivian (hurricane) → Storm Vivian – The merger was carried out by a non-admin who didn't take account of the discussion about the title. Having carried out some research (see above discussion), the most WP:COMMONNAME appears to be "Storm Vivian", followed by "Winter Storm Vivian". Neither Cyclone Vivian nor Hurricane Vivian are strongly supported by the sources. Bermicourt (talk) 16:22, 12 August 2018 (UTC) --Relisting.
