Collaboration Section[edit]

The inclusion of a collaboration section seems very strange to me --- surely the Galbraith text should be within the main body of the text; is LaRouche's publication of a book by him to mean that that book is now a collaboration? Also, the panel discussion is given inordinate weight. This is a man who is primarily notable for a long and varied career as a Soviet civil servant and academic --- to spend a large amount of his bio on one panel discussion seems very odd. I am assuming good faith but I cannot help notice that user coleocanth spends a lot of time reverting edits only on LaRouche artiicles. Bigdaddy1981 (talk) 23:20, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Of the two sources that were there, one seems to be a dead link, and the other, The Toronto Star, says unambiguously: In 1988, he and Soviet economist Stanislav Menshikov wrote ``Capitalism, Communism and Coexistence: From the Bitter Past to a Better Prospect." The book is a compilation of discussions conducted at Galbraith's summer home in Townsend, Vt., about socialism and capitalism. In case there is any further doubt, I added another source. You are right -- the link I was looking at made it seem a Galbraith edited text -- however it is a Galbraith/Menshikov edited text. However; the existence of a collaboration section is highly irregular for an academic --- one would normally not present materials like this. And, yes, the Dalai Lama panel is given excess weight. I am aware that writing bios of Russian figures isn't easy especially for english speakers (like us). However; I think we can improve it.

I would suggest a lede -- much as it is now. Then a sub-section on his Soviet diplomatic career then a section on his owrk as an economist (this section could come before the other perhaps) in which one would mention his writings including that with Galbraith. Menshikov authored this article praising LaRouche, which is featured on numerous Russian publications and websites, including Sergey Glazyev's personal website. Also, he spoke at a Schiller Institute conference,[2] and the LaRouche organization published a translation of Menshikov's book, as is noted in the article. --Leatherstocking (talk) 01:04, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
