Compare with Speech and language pathology?[edit]

How does the topic of this article differ from Speech and language pathology?--agr (talk) 05:05, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There certainly is overlap here but I understand this article to be an overview of diagnostic conditions whereas the speech and language patholody article has its focus in the practitioners who remediate those conditions, clinical education and so on. So there is a difference but maybe some of the information on treatment does not belong in this section. Also there is overlap here with the article Speech and language disability although this article is a more thorough treatment of the subject. User:LoretteP 23:23, 14 June 2010.

Tourettes?[edit]

Why is it that tourettes is not mentioned even in passing in this article? Is it an oversight, or is it legitimately not a related condition? Cynthia-Coriníon 00:07, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

I think Tourette syndrome is classified a a tic disorder rather than an impairment of speech and language. Vocal tics are only one part of the wider syndrome of Tourette, rather than the only diagnostic criteria. Fortnum (talk) 13:24, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
