Layout[edit]

I'm not entirely with the layout of this article at the moment, but without the clear="all" breaks it was a complete mess. Hopefully if the history section is expanded (there should be plenty to say on that subject) they can be removed and it will look better! --RFBailey 00:02, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

List of stops[edit]

I'm not sure that the list of stops in the 'services' section are needed in this article because they are not relevant enough the the station itself, anyone else think the same? Chris1193 (talk) 19:19, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's certainly non standard. Isn't the information effectively given by the route boxes? Although a lot of effort has been put into adding the calling points, it probably needs to go. Grblundell (talk) 20:24, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly. Ive just noticed that the same has been done to Liverpool Lime Street railway station as well. Although its edited by different IP addresses, its likely to be the same user. If anyone thinks it should stay, please post a message in this section, otherwise it will be deleted after 7 days. Chris1193 (talk) 09:19, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
D'you know what, I cant be bothered. I've posted a message on the user's page, but because its an IP address, I will not get any response. I dont think its worth arguing over a list of stations, so Im going to leave it as it is. I wish people would get accounts! Chris1193 (talk) 21:11, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I can sympathise with this, but I think it is worth the removal. All editors, please note - about to be removed as the lists do not actually add anything to the article. The information contained can be easily derived from the route boxes, and including it in every station would be (a) repetitive (b) a nightmare to maintain (c) disproportionately large for busy stations - just think what the Clapham Junction railway station article would look like. Grblundell (talk) 19:10, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Don't mean to be picky, but that may have gone a bit too far the other way. I agree there was too much detail before, but it'd be worth retaining a basic indication of the route taken rather than just the destination station (e.g to Rochdale via Atherton & Manchester Victoria) for readers without an in-depth knowledge of the local network. I don't think you're being picky at all - you've greatly improved the section. Many thanks. Grblundell (talk) 16:09, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
