Untitled[edit]

This short (which was later edited into Bugs Bunny's 3rd Movie: 1001 Rabbit Tales) contains a possible allusion to a marijuana habit when Slowpoke sings La Cucaracha.

Care to elaborate? - furrykef (Talk at me) 18:09, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Literal translation "The roach, the roach, can't walk any more, because it needs, because it needs, marijuana to smoke"

On a other note this character is an icon of rasism, while in fact this stupid article only shows he has been in two shows and is the cousin to the every so fast mouse. -AtomicN

  • Way to read into it, brah. Ohai1337 (talk) 16:32, 6 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • He was intended only to represent the antithesis of Speedy, nothing more. Sometimes a mouse is just a mouse. —Ortchel 06:57, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

back To the original topic, The song slowpoke sings and the supposed allusion to marijuana Habit. This version of the song does translate to above translation, But it is not limited to Slowpoke Rodriguez, Speedy Gonzales sings a similar marijuana referenced version of the La Cucaracha song in the five year earlier short "Gonzales Tamales" nov 1957. The question at stake is if this is original research, I have not found a suitable citation. ie not found on social media or clickbait tabloids. I put forth that this has been up for over a decade without credibility, it may deserve to just come down, Wikipedia has a very clear no original research policy, but I will not do it yet. I want a chance for redemption, I will remove in 2019 if it still remains uncited. (Dwarvenbierschneeman (talk) 02:43, 29 April 2018 (UTC))[reply]

Si.

I disagree. Slowpoke deserves his own page. While he may not have appeared in many cartoons, he has become larger then life in that he has spawned much merchandise. I myself have a number of items with him on it. One is a collecters glass from the 70's that sells for 50 plus dollars on ebay all the time. I also don't feel that the volume of work should determine any real or ficional characters worthiness for their own Wiki page. I would say your average person in America has heard of him, while thousands of real life people have their own page even though their obscure to all except their own small niche. This of course doesn't mean that this page is well written, only that it should exist. Deepintexas (talk) 02:12, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose - I agree with DeepinTexas, he is one of the more memorable WB minor characters. I still remember when he shot Jose, and can recite the lines. --- Jeremy (talk) 08:32, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Janitor makes no sense. Those above have perfectly stated the case for why this should be an independent page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.131.149.6 (talk) 15:48, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I also agree with DeepinTexas, ever since I was a small child I loved Speedy Gonzales and Slowpoke Rodriguez. I think that both of them each have worked for there own page we should's just make a well known character a template. Joaquin546

I, like many above, also agree with DeepinTexas. These are indeed two different mice, with opposite traits. Although they are short in length, that would kind of be like combining the articles "apples" and "oranges" together!  T24G  06:11, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose - While he's a minor character, he is still pretty noteworthy and remains popular amongst fans. That's reason enough to leave Slowpoke with his own article. It's not like Wikipedia is nearing a hard article limit. Ohai1337 (talk) 16:43, 6 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
