Clergyman[edit]

Was he in holy orders as well? Roy Jenkins says he was, but I'm looking for other corroboration as I know little about him.Paulturtle (talk) 21:55, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't seen that anywhere else, and I'm quite certain it's incorrect. He was certainly of a high church inclination, but as he inherited his title aged 7 it would be most unusual for him to have been ordained as well (and would be mentioned in bios if he had been). And, apart from anything else, none of the photos I've seen show him wearing a dog-collar! GrindtXX (talk) 22:10, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The 7th Baronet, Sir Stephen Glynne (1744–1780) – our Stephen's grandfather – was ordained and became rector of Hawarden: see Glynne baronets and here and here. That looks likely to be the source of the confusion. GrindtXX (talk) 20:28, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
