The title[edit]

silent 8, the it starts of silent 7 (working title). why is this 86.22.226.252 (talk) 06:26, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Silent Hill: Homecoming is the fifth istallment. Silent Hill: Origins and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories are the sixth and seventh installments. So the upcoming game is the eighth installment, ergo Silent Hill 8. But Origins is a prequel to the first game, and Shattered Memories is (partly) a remake of the first game. macjacobus (talk) 08:28, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Then shouldn't it be called "Silent Hill 6?" I mean in comparison, you heave the Resident Evil remake, and Residnet Evil Zero, yet the most recent game in the main series was called Resident Evil 5... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.174.213.131 (talk) 21:58, 15 September 2010 (UTC) [reply]

I agree, and I also think that it should be stated that while Downpour is the eighth SH game to be made, it is the sixth game in the series. Listener Sheogorath (talk) 04:50, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

speculation[edit]

"The game begins after a prisoner-transport bus plunges into a large, otherworldly crack in the road just outside of Silent Hill. Pendleton escapes the wreckage and navigates his way through the forest and into the foggy town" => This is mere speculation. We do not know if the games begins with the bus sequence. The described event could also occur in the middle or at the end of the game. Also, the given source does not comment on this issue in any way. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.44.196.146 (talk) 11:48, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorted, thank you. Geoff B (talk) 12:03, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Probably need further confirmation, but still. --Lenin and McCarthy | (Complain here) 06:31, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Release date: Autumn 2011[edit]

Joystiq.com has the full press release from Konami, at the bottom of which is the Autumn 2011 release date. The article, but not the press release, describes the release date as European. The game may be released simultaneously in Europe and North America--I don't know. Anyway, this needs to be added to the article. 75.132.142.26 (talk) 19:25, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

PC version?[edit]

An IP editor is adding that there is a PC version, despite this ref, http://www.vatragames.com/?cat=3, which comes from Vatra Games' website, saying it's only for the PS3 and 360. I will not risk a block because somebody refuses to listen.--Tærkast (Discuss) 11:42, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Release date[edit]

Just noticed that GameSpot now lists the North American & Japanese release as to be announced (TBA). At the very top of IGN's article on the Tokyo Game Show, it lists a general release of Q1 2012. Just putting that out there, as there seems to be something going on. Kaguya-chan (talk) 23:33, 18 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

But the IGN article on the TGS says "TBA 2011" at its top. It's between the Facebook "Like" button and the "More Info" button. I've found this, which further complicates things. GameFly and Amazon.com couldn't be used to support the 2012 release date because they're vendor sites, but 1UP.com isn't, so it looks like the date is indeed 2012. Or Konami needs some staff change.^_^ Hula Hup (talk) 00:15, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
On the other hand, I've also found this on Konami Digital Entertainment Europe's official site, which says that the game is due to release in November. It's a first-party source, whereas 1UP.com is a third-party one. Now what? Hula Hup (talk) 03:18, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I must be in a parallel universe, because the IGN article says Q1 2012. ;) Seriously now, the source for Europe Konami is also from mid-August; the date changes seems to be fairly recent. And by the way, 1UP lists SH2 PC version as being released in 1999, which makes me question its dates. Kaguya-chan (talk) 20:11, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
We obviously see a different version of the IGN page, probably due to region issues, that's the sole explanation. The Konami Europe page must be referring to the game's European release, as it was initially announced that this would be in November (the GameSpot page cited in the infobox still says this). If 1UP is wrong, then what shall we do? Also, I've put a tag requesting size reduction on Donwpour's box art, but it still hasn't been fixed, and it also needs to be cropped to be platform-neutral. Hula Hup (talk) 05:57, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think a release date was ever officially announced, so it seems to me that March 2012 is just a generic release date.--Tærkast (Discuss) 15:43, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Found this which supports a Q1 2012 release. Hula Hup (talk) 17:16, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Finally found the mysterious Joystiq source some of the editors were referring to in their edit summaries: [ http://www.joystiq.com/2012/01/12/silent-hill-release-dates-march-2012 "Breaking it all down, HD Collection will be released on March 6, Downpour on March 13 and the Vita exclusive Book of Memories on March 27."]; Now, I'm a tad skeptical as it is a blog, and not an official SH one at that, but it appears to be based on a recent press release from Konami. Kaguya-chan (talk) 21:54, 14 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
WPVG lists Joystiq as a situational source and says "Often, it is best to demonstrate the reliability of the individual authors sourced." The author is Richard Mitchell, which I have no idea if he is reliable, but the press release looks true, I believe the only worry is the author. What about looking for a reliable non-situational source which also contains this press release? Hula Hup (talk) 09:42, 15 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested sources[edit]

Not overly sure that it contains something new that isn't already mentioned, because couldn't watch it due to a playback problem; posting for someone else to check and judge if it has something useful concerning the audio design process: [3]. Hula Hup (talk) 17:20, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Also, no one noticed this? --Lenin and McCarthy | (Complain here) 21:38, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • For "Audio": [5]. Daniel Licht on how he joined the series. Anima Sola (talk) 18:02, 21 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Plot[edit]

When filling out the plot section, instead of giving an entire blow by blow rundown of every event, talk about what the character is attempting to do and why they want to do it. You can be as general as just saying escape but give the plot at least a little perspective so the reader has an idea of what the story is supposed to be about rather than what is happening as it happens.76.110.11.45 (talk) 23:03, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
