Stupid Question[edit]

Stupid question probably because I haven't seen this film and am therefore probably wrong, but I believe in the novel the protagonist at one point says that he was from New York to a Sicilian man that he meets; however he clarifies that in fact he has never been to New York, and although he's clearly spent the last 15 years outside of Sicily, simply goes along with the New York thing because it's easy to explain or for unexplained reasons. Of course it's quite possible the film doesn't follow the novel in this respect, but someone who has seen this film might want to double-check whether the young man in question actually is coming from New York or whether that's just suggested.
