Spelling of the last name, Hathaway or Hatheway?[edit]

I encourage that the precise spelling of the last name be confirmed. I see references to "Hathaway" with the last 4 letters being "away", and also "Hatheway" with the last 4 letters being "eway". I believe the correct spelling of the last name is the latter, "Hatheway" and the reference to the homestead uses the spelling "Hatheway".
