Additions[edit]

I just added some bits that I found when doing Samuel James Mitchell. Since I was only doing that one to support the Chief Justice of the Northern Territory which in turn was only because of background for the Peter Falconio disappearance, the chances of me going in to fill in this one are very slim. But I have left the links so that someone else can, if they want to. 59.167.139.163 15:24, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Claim to being first woman judge[edit]

Hi Pdfpdf, I see you have undone my edit on this page. There is a difference in status here which does need to be addressed. Mitchell was the first Australian woman to be a judge in Australia, but not the first Australian woman to be a judge. May Darlington Lahey, an Australian woman, became a judge overseas in 1928. The lede on Mitchell's page has to be adjusted to reflect this, can discuss here suitable ways to word it clearly. MurielMary (talk) 09:35, 26 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I reworded it to remove any doubt. Normally I'd think people bringing up Lahey in this context were being a bit pedantic, but "first Australian woman to be a judge" is clearly wrong. The Drover's Wife (talk) 10:56, 26 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
